What’s the Difference Between Indoor and Outdoor Cannabis?

What’s the Difference Between Indoor and Outdoor Cannabis

When it comes to growing cannabis, various methods differ mainly in the location of cultivation. The two primary methods are OUTDOOR and INDOOR. Outdoor cannabis relies on natural sunlight, while indoor cannabis uses artificial light and controlled environments. Though indoor buds may seem less natural, they are often bigger, denser, and richer in cannabinoids and nutrients like terpenes. This usually makes indoor CBD flowers pricier than their outdoor counterparts.

Indoor vs. Outdoor Cannabis

Indoor and outdoor refer to the two main types of cannabis plants. There are also strains like SATIVA, INDICA, and HYBRID, but these terms describe the plant’s effects and terpene profile, not the cultivation method. Additionally, there’s the GREENHOUSE method – a type of outdoor growing, and the HYDRO method – a highly controlled form of indoor growing. Hydroponic cultivation involves growing plants with their roots in a special liquid instead of soil, providing the plant with optimal conditions for a bountiful yield.

Differences between Indoor and Outdoor Weed

The main difference between indoor and outdoor weed is quality. Outdoor weed isn’t necessarily inferior, but indoor weed generally looks, smells, and performs better due to controlled growing conditions. Some people prefer outdoor weed because it’s grown under the open sky rather than artificial lights. However, high-quality outdoor weed that rivals indoor weed is rare and requires experienced growers, top-notch seeds, and excellent environmental conditions.

Cannabis Cultivation Methods

Cannabis can be grown in various ways. The simplest and the most affordable method is outdoor growing, where plants are grown under the open sky. Greenhouse cultivation, a form of outdoor growing, involves a closed space and provides a more controlled environment. For the best quality and yield, indoor cultivation is ideal as it allows for precise control over temperature and humidity. Experienced growers may use hydroponics, immersing roots in a special solution, to achieve superior results.

Outdoor (Greenhouse) Cultivation

Outdoor cannabis cultivation is more affordable than indoor but typically yields less and often lacks the aesthetic appeal of hydroponic cannabis. Many CBD product manufacturers prefer outdoor growing due to lower costs. Outdoor cannabis, grown naturally, appeals to those seeking a closer connection to nature and and customers looking for natural CBD products. However, for the highest nutrient content, some prefer CBD oil from indoor-grown cannabis.

Indoor (Hydroponic) Cultivation

Indoor cannabis cultivation can produce high-quality, abundant yields with beautiful, aromatic buds. The controlled environment of indoor growing ensures consistent temperature and humidity, which is ideal for the plants. Hydroponic cultivation, where roots are grown in a nutrient solution instead of soil, can result in even better yields. However, these plants are more susceptible to disease, so air quality must be carefully monitored.
